Port of Belledune CEO Appointed to UNB’s Fulcrum Advisory Board

The University of New Brunswick (UNB) has assembled a group of industry leaders to provide insight to its Research & Innovation Partnerships group.

The Fulcrum initiative as described by the UNB Newsroom is an initiative that reorients research partnership activities to facilitate engagement outside of UNB. It represents a drive to increase UNB’s presence in the world and to meet its partners where they are, with the support they need, when and how they need it. This drive includes focusing effort and resources in areas where there is a strong opportunity or need, and where UNB can bring a wide range of expertise to bear.

The initial advisory board includes our President & CEO, Mr. Denis Caron where he will bring his experience of over 35 years working in all levels of government where he held a variety of senior positions in various departments including Environment and Local Government, Agriculture, Aquaculture, and Fisheries, and Economic Development. Denis is passionate about the region in northern New Brunswick and works relentlessly to support local and encourage regional initiatives.

Denis will be joined by 4 others on the initial advisory board including, Duncan Gallant, research and evaluation coordinator at JEDI, the Joint Economic Development Initiative; Alicia Roisman Ismach, head of Atlantic Fintech (powered by Venn Innovation); Beth Webster, vice-president, Populus Global Solutions; and Pat Whalen, chairman and CEO of LuminUltra Technologies.
