CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

The Belledune Port Authority (BPA) is a dynamic and forward-thinking organization located on the northeastern coast of New Brunswick. As one of Eastern Canada’s most diverse bulk ports, the Port of Belledune plays a vital role in regional economic development and international trade. With state-of-the-art infrastructure, a strategic location, and a commitment to sustainability, the Port is poised for transformational growth.

Since 2004, the Port has handled over 24 million tonnes of cargo and serviced more than 1,000 ships, connecting to over 25 countries worldwide. Through its 30-Year Master Development Plan and the creation of a Green Energy Hub, the Port is embracing innovation, sustainability, and industrial diversification to drive prosperity in Northern New Brunswick and beyond.

The Opportunity

As a key member of the executive leadership team, as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy that supports the Port’s ambitious growth, transformation, and sustainability agenda. This is a rare opportunity to help lead a nationally significant infrastructure organization at the forefront of green energy, industrial development, and international trade.

The CFO will be instrumental in enabling the Port’s evolution into a global leader in sustainable logistics and industrial innovation. This includes driving infrastructure expansion, unlocking new revenue streams, and structuring complex public-private partnerships that support long-term value creation.

The Role

Reporting to the President and CEO, you will oversee all aspects of financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, asset management, risk management, and capital planning. You will lead a high-performing finance team and serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO, executive team, and Board of Directors.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role requiring both strategic vision and tactical execution. You will engage directly in financial modeling, scenario planning, and deal structuring, while also representing the Port in high-stakes negotiations with government agencies, development banks, and international investors.

Ideal Candidate Profile

As the ideal candidate, you are a strategic and entrepreneurial financial executive with a proven track record of structuring and closing complex, multi-partner deals. You bring deep expertise in financial strategy and business development, ideally within industrial, infrastructure, energy, or transportation sectors. Experience in banking, infrastructure, or other complex business environments is highly valued. A graduate degree or professional designation in business or finance is preferred, though not required for candidates with equivalent experience and a demonstrated track record of strategic leadership and financial acumen.

You are a builder and a dealmaker who is comfortable navigating regulated environments, leveraging federal programs, and aligning financial strategy with long-term organizational goals. You thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments and are energized by the opportunity to shape the future of a high-impact organization.

You are a trusted advisor and collaborative leader who inspires confidence, communicates with clarity, and brings a strong sense of purpose to your work. Bilingualism in French and English is considered an asset.
