
Engineering Project Manager
JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Chief Engineer and Operations Officer, the Engineering Project Manager is responsible for working in collaboration with the Team to manage projects related to building and maintaining port infrastructure, including the development of the Port’s Capital Improvement Program. The Engineering Project Manager may also be responsible for special projects from time to time, such as process improvement initiatives and enhancements to the asset management program.
OVERVIEW OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Implementation:

Help shape the development of concepts, provide input to the implementation of complex designs, and oversee the execution of significant marine construction projects and those on the industrial lands;

Prepare or oversee all requests for proposals (RFPs) for professional services and tenders for works contracts related to capital projects;

Organize and preside over design and construction progress meetings;

Review change orders and progress claims, and resolve disputes and technical issues in collaboration with consultants;

Ensure timely and efficient completion of design and construction phases, and ensure that progress and performance follow the project plan.

Work with the Chief Engineer and Operations Office to provide input and support in the approval of any changes that impact the scope, budget, or schedule of the project.

Ensure that all applicable project funding conditions and requirements are met; Ensure regulatory compliance of all works carried out.

Work with Operations team on maintenance and repairs including the ongoing asset management process.

Ensure that ongoing port operations are not disturbed due to construction activities or ensure that disruptions are mitigated.
QUALIFICATIONS

Professional Engineer designation
-
Professional Member with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick, or ability to obtain Professional Member status

Eight (8) years of experience working in engineering project management

Industry experience would be considered an asset

Strong knowledge of project management skills

Be prepared to submit to a security check and be bondable

Bilingual, English & French verbal and written required;

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires the individual to work in an office, at client sites and attend community events, and in a team environment with normal business interruptions expected. Working hours for this position are Monday to Friday, 8AM to 4PM, however the nature of the the position may require some work to be carried out beyond the normal working hours from time to time. The individual must be willing to occasionally step outside of the job description and possibly take on additional responsibilities.
