The certification was officially received during the GreenTech Conference, held in Québec City from June 9 to 11, 2026. The annual conference brings together industry leaders, environmental experts, and maritime organizations from across North America to share best practices and advance sustainability initiatives within the marine sector.

Green Marine is North America's leading voluntary environmental certification program for the maritime industry. The program helps participants benchmark and improve their environmental performance through rigorous annual assessments across key areas, including greenhouse gas emissions, community relations, spill prevention, waste management, environmental leadership, and biodiversity conservation.

The Port of Belledune's certification demonstrates its dedication to exceeding regulatory requirements and implementing best practices that support both environmental responsibility and long-term economic development.

The Green Marine program requires participants to undergo annual self-evaluations and independent third-party verification to ensure transparency, accountability, and measurable progress. By participating in the program, the Port of Belledune joins a network of maritime organizations dedicated to advancing environmental excellence throughout the industry.

The certification aligns with the Port's broader vision of fostering sustainable growth while supporting regional economic opportunities, community partnerships, and environmental protection.
