GREEN HYDROGEN
PROJECT
The Belledune Port Authority is working with Cross River Infrastructure Partners LLC to develop a large-scale hydrogen production facility at the Green Energy Hub.
Working closely with our local communities and Indigenous rights holders, we have partnered with the Government of New Brunswick and our provincial electric utility NB Power to align, develop and market opportunities for private sector green development.
In August 2022, the Governments of Canada and Germany signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish an energy partnership aimed at achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 through a transition to safe, secure, reliable, affordable and sustainable energy.
The project would use
200 MW
of clean energy to produce green hydrogen and ammonia for export. Planned expansions would create the capacity to serve both local and global energy needs.
Pending the outcome of feasibility studies, environmental assessments, due diligence and permitting,
the hydrogen production facility
could come online by 2027.
