Belledune, NB – The Belledune Port Authority has committed to supporting the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation with a donation of $50,000 over the next five years, to go towards the Foundation’s Excellence, a healthy investment! major fundraising campaign.
“The Port of Belledune is proud to support the Excellence, a healthy investment! campaign,” said Denis Caron, President & CEO of the BPA. “As a proud member of Northern New Brunswick, the Belledune Port Authority believes it is important to support worthy endeavors in the region. This campaign is certainly a worthy endeavor as it will benefit the lives of so many patients within our region and improve services offered at the Chaleur Regional Hospital.”
The Excellence, a healthy investment! project was created to help cover the costs of specific construction and renovation projects that will have a major impact on the quality of patient care at the Chaleur Regional Hospital. All donations accepted during the campaign, will go towards the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment for four priority projects, including the modernization of hospital rooms, the complete restructuring of the Mother/Child Program, an expansion and reorganization of the integrated ambulatory units and the construction of a new auditorium for transmission of knowledge.
The ultimate objective of the project is to raise $5 million by 2020.
The Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation officially launched the campaign in Bathurst on May 17, 2016. Since then, the Port of Belledune has already donated $10,000 to the cause in 2016 and will continue to donate $10,000 each year for the next four years.
“Being a part of and having the support of the community is a privilege the Belledune Port Authority is very proud to have,” said Caron. “In return, we support local events through participation, involvement and sponsorship. Going forward, we will continue to give back to the community and the region.”
As of 2008, the BPA implemented a policy stating that up to 5% of its Net Income would be designated as donations/sponsorships to support initiatives and organizations in the region. In 2016 alone, the Belledune Port Authority donated more than $75,000.00 within the region.
