First Ship of 2012 at the Port of Belledune

Belledune NB -The Belledune Port Authority (BPA) officially greeted Captain Piotr Wysocki Master of the M.T. “Aurora”, the first ship to lay anchor at the Port of Belledune in 2012.

The M.T. “Aurora” is registered in the Majuro and her last port of call before arriving in Belledune was Port of Morehead City, NC. The vessel’s agent is Fundy Shipping Ltd. represented by Ms. Nicole Boudreau. The M.T. “Aurora” docked at the Port of Belledune the afternoon of January 10th, 2012 where the Vessel is currently loading approximately 10 000 MT of Sulfuric Acid.  The next stop for the M.T. “Aurora” will be at the Port of Pasadena, TX.

Mr. Rayburn Doucett, President & CEO of the BPA, presented Captain Piotr Wysocki with a commemorative gift at a ceremony held at the Belledune Port Authority’s Administrative offices.

Mr.  Doucett also took the opportunity to welcome the Captain to the Port of Belledune as well as thank the staff and Board of Directors for their continuous support.  He also stated that “2011 was an excellent year that saw the completion of our infrastructure projects.  Our modern equipment and infrastructure now include a new barge terminal, a new roll on-roll off terminal and a new Modular Component Fabrication Facility. The Port has over 650 hectares of outdoor terminal storage space and vacant land for development and over 15,000 square meters of indoor storage capacity — a definite competitive advantage for bulk, break-bulk and general cargoes. We are eagerly beginning 2012 with some exciting business development opportunities on the horizon and a focus on marketing our new infrastructure.”

Many business people were present including the BPA Chairman, Barry Kyle, two Board Members, Claude Doucet and Albert Doucet, representatives of the Village of Belledune including Deputy Mayor Emmie Flanagan, Mayor Gilberte Boudreau of Nigadoo, and Hugh Comeau, representative of the city of Bathurst, who welcomed the Captain and his crew to the community. Representatives from Xstrata, Donald Roy from Eastern Canada Stevedoring, and other partners also attended the ceremony. — 30 — For more information contact:
