First Ship of 2018 at the Port of Belledune

Belledune NB -The Belledune Port Authority (BPA) officially greeted Captain Kumar Raj, Master of the M.T.M. “Penang”, the first ship to lay anchor at the Port of Belledune in 2018.

The M.T.M. “Penang” is registered in Singapore and her last port of call before arriving in Belledune was Rouen, France. The vessel’s agent is Fundy Shipping., represented by Ms. Nicole Boudreau. The M.T.M. “Penang” docked at the Port of Belledune the morning of January 19h, 2018, where the vessel is loaded approximately 19,000MT of acid. The next stop for the M.T.M. “Penang” will be at Jorf Lasfar in Morroco.

Mr. Denis D. Caron, President and CEO of the Port, presented Kumar Raj with a commemorative gift..

Mr. Caron also took the opportunity to welcome the Captain to the Port of Belledune as well as state that: “This year is a milestone for the Port of Belledune! Celebrating the Port’s fiftieth anniversary proves that hard work and persistence can be the result of success and sustainability! The economic impact the Port has had on the region and communities is something we pride ourselves in, and is our focus for the future! We strive for growth and economic development in Northern New Brunswick, and 2018 is not only a year to celebrate our past but also to set new goals and targets so that we can continue to celebrate our successes in the future!“
