Port in collaboration with regional leaders and stakeholders

Belledune NB – The Belledune Port Authority (BPA) has been diligent in its efforts to reintroduce itself as well as the new leadership at the BPA to local mayors and community groups.

Over the past 6 months, the BPA attracted elected officials from the Acadian Peninsula, Restigouche and the Chaleur region to visit the Port of Belledune. The Port also played host to members from all five First Nation communities within the immediate region including Pabineau, Eel River Bar, Listuguj, Gesgapegiag and Gespeg.

“The goal of these meetings and the objective moving forward is to increase awareness of the port, its value and its economic contributions,” said Denis Caron, President & CEO of the BPA. “In order to create meaningful relationships, we believe it is important that the communities in our region know who we are, what we do and become familiar with our future plans.”

And the Port Authority has a number of good news stories to share with the region after finishing off one of their most successful years to-date. The end of 2016 solidified an increase in revenue, an increase in volume and an increase in net profit compared to previous years. Various contributing factors include the generation of new business, the development of new clients, and the formation of new partnerships.

The BPA has been assiduous in its efforts to diversify its operation and attract new potential projects to the Port of Belledune and to the region in Northern New Brunswick.

Going forward Caron said he will continue to collaborate with regional leaders and stakeholders and he looks forward to hosting various groups at the Port of Belledune again this year.

“It is crucial that we are open and transparent with the members of our region as we work together to develop economic opportunities and attract new industries to Northern New Brunswick,” said Caron.
